Not sure if cheap or expensive but I’m paying around 1700 for a 2016 CP M3, 3k excess, 750 on glass, car hire. With Discovery Insure.
Would be interesting to see what other options you get.

Yes, due to price of the vehicle you have to fit a tracker.
But you don’t have to fit their DQ tag if you don’t want to. That’s optional.

My question is do they track your driving styles and will they use it against you in a claim ? Of course depending on circumstances

My understanding with the personal Discovery broker is the DQ tag is the device measure driving behavior for your points via Bluetooth. The greater the points the more the cash back on a monthly basis. BUT you don’t have to choose the vitality DQ tag option hence they can’t measure driving behavior.
I don’t have the DQ tag on my M but have it on my other 2 vehicles.
There is a monthly cash back on the 2 other vehicles. Hope this helps you.

You can believe Discovery when they tell you they won't, but people have found out the hard way that they will use it.

This has been reported here and elsewhere but the Discovery fanboys come out in force defending their points so I will leave it to OP to search and make your mind up. They could not beat the rate I received via a broker.

EDIT: The DQ device measures your behavior and reports in real time to the app for rebate and points. Your tracker unit is collecting this information on driving behavior anyway (acceleration, braking, speed, location etc.) and can still be used to repudiate a claim.

Not sure on all trackers collating data. It depends on what tracker you have. For instance My tracker is for purely recovery purposes and it’s not live. Only in the event of theft it is activated. It does not collect any data and is accepted by insurances companies.
The DQ tag must not be chosen from day 0. You cannot choose that option and try to cheat the system at times. It always records... that’s when issue arises.
