R807 with excess

That's with AA Insurance.

I should really call my old broker in Tableview.

They saved me R200 on my Golf 4 a few years back.

I doubt I will ever insure any of my cars.

For the 12 years I've been driving I haven't made an accident, thats atleast R60 000 I've not given to the man.

I'm in the process of acquiring another vehicle and did a quick Hippo search and saw that Virgin Money (underwritten by Dial Direct) has ZERO excess. Their rate was R80 more expensive than Dial Direct themselves (who had a R3750 excess). So I inquired...

And I had them phone me only to find out that:
A)The actual rate turned out to be a bit more and
B) They don't pay out for damages UNDER R5000.

Now which person (in a sane state of mind) would run a claim through insurance if you have to pay R5000 for R2000 damages AND have a claim against your record? The ZERO excess that is advertised is just another way of representing the actual R5000 excess amount. Very clever Mr Branson... So in order to pay the ZERO excess, you need to make sure you smash your car up REAL good! (and have more that R5000 worth of dents)

I'm still very happy with my insurer thank you very much. Where 0 excess means 0 excess!

Are you sure you don't have a minimum damage amount?

Virgin Money is not meant for shopping trolley dents and minor parking lot buffs. Otherwise it will do for medium to major accident damages.

And they have a 24 month fixed premium.
