Insurance Advice

Hi guys I need some advice regarding insurance.

I am currently insured with MiWay and I am not happy with what they have to offer and how they have been treating me. So I would like to change the company I am insured with. I am currently paying quite a lot and my excess is ridiculous plus last month they increased my premiums, their annual increase which is a joke.:yuck:

I have just ran a search on Hippo, it has found two results which seem very reasonible however its companies I havent really heard of before.

1.) Regents Insurance
2.) Llyods Insurance

then the others in order of cost + excess:

3.) Standard Bank
4.) Budget
5.) Dial direct

I am looking for something with a low excess but fully comprehensive. Also im young so thats a problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

My brother has told me:

Auto and General.

Any more experienced people that can shed some light and advice.

Thank you in advance

:ty:

Ok remember, hippo basically gives you quotes from insurance companies which are all ultimately owned by the same company. It's pointless. Rather use a broker.

Ahh I see ... makes sense ... thx for that

I am thinking of hollard Drive1000 ... 1000km per month + tracker ... its a lot cheaper and i only drive 500km a month...

Alexandre Forbes, BMW Insurance on 3 of my BMW's under BMW Finance couldn't even touch them. Plus their service and extras are brilliant!

When I claimed for an accident on my Haybusa they even kaked out the company repairing it, without me asking for them to do so, because they felt it was taking too long. I'll NEVER insure elsewhere again.

Bud,

Miway is terrible, and there are some others which are worse.

Santam, Mutual and Federal, Zurich, Alex Forbes, Holland, Regent more or less in that order...

In my view, Santam is tops...

Stay away from the telesure group..

Don't don't don't go with Auto & General, if that option ever comes up, as a matter of fact, don't go with any of the companies within their group, which I think includes First for Woman and Budget :dunno:

They will look for the smallest and most ridiculous detail to get out of a claim, leaving you stranded. They're also into some dodgy dealing with selling written off cars.

Mutual and Federal or Santam get my vote. Only ever heard good things about them.

currently I'm on Alexander Forbes and BMW insurance..never had a prob with either..both gave me great service..BM insurance with my E36 when my key was stolen from me in an armed robbery replaced my key and BM keyring, payed for the programming and they even payed for another spare key for me..just asked them cos my spare was damaged and they agreed..found both to be very good to deal with and both don't worry about normal tires instead of runflats, don't force you to install trackers etc..

Santam FTMFW

I am with Santam through Glenrand MIB, but they now owned by Aon. I pay very little compared to my friends, and I also have no excess.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
I battled to get insurance on my car with everyone else - ended up going through a broker which covered my household, laptop etc and car which works out a little cheaper in the long run.

Insurance is through Mutual and Federal.

Santam through AON brokers is tops, my BIL has this and has never had a problem with claims etc on cars & household..

they got hit by lightning twice in a year & it took out PC, Network, LCD, AMP and it all got replaced with better stuff both times..

Another Question regarding Car insurance is business use VS personal use?

I use my car to go consult at clients, now to I classify this as personal use or business use??

I'm also insured with MiWay, but I put in a notice to terminate. Moving to Santam next month.

Got a great premium, far lower than what I'm paying now, with all sorts of benefits and no excess.

If you travelling from home to the client, it's personal.
Didn't know Miway was crap. I will be shopping around now as well.
