Howzit Guys

The new buzzword is inlets with guys claiming massive gains by de restricting the current inlets
MMP who makes only the lhd version claims like 45 Bhp with a tune .

New 500whp record on FBO
But I wonder if it's the aggressive tune with extreme boost more than the inlets.

Vargas does theirs as well and has shown massive gains on cars with upgraded turbos 30-100hp but scanty info on FBO cars , only seen one guy claim 8whp but he had fueling issues.
Works on rhd , flows similarly to MMPs.

Anyone tried this and care to share some insights?
At $500 dollars plus costs , it's an expensive upgrade for 8hp !!!!! but I think there is more to gain?
Here's one of the threads .

I suspect the more boost you run the more restrictive the stock inlet tips will be.

So all depends on what boost you running which will derermine your gains

You have to crank up the boost significantly to fully benefit from inlets on stock turbos. Not really ideal .

Running the inlets on stock turbos without any tuning changes afterwards is going to yield very little in the way of peak power/torque gains as flow on the stock inlets is sufficient to a point.

However it's not just about peak power, but also the turbos ability to spool and deliver boost quickly and effectively thereby reducing the need for erratic wastegate movement to correct boost to its set point. Rather than look at peaks a better comparison would be an increase in the area under the power/torque curves on a dyno as well as what RPM peak boost is achieved and how long it is held for.

All of that said getting the most out of inlets on the N54 platform will require higher levels of boost on stock turbos (those looking at 18+ PSI) or RB/Vargas hybrids.
