increase battery discharge

So my dads car comes of Motorplan and the very next day i get this message on the idrive:

increase battery discharge and something about the date and time resetting.

My dad drives the car everyday for about 100km so the car does not stand for very long.

The message does not want to go away....

Anyone had this? New battery needed? car starts fine every morning. Everything looks and feels normal.

Could be low charge on battery or poor battery connection, get the battery tested :thumbs:

Did you do the recall on the battery grounding cable?

lol I had this on my car BMW gave me some bull that I do regular short trips of less then 5 kms. They then set the alternator to charge more often and problem was gone for a while came back once tried booking in and then all of a sudden no more error. I have been driving for more than 6 months touch wood no error.

Could be battery - how old is it? Had this problem with the X5. Recharged it - worked fine for about a month then died completely on me. Service history showed that battery was replaced more than 3.5 yrs ago so was due a new one. X5's are heavy on batteries... & most other things.

i called and they said its not on the list. It has been to the dealers a few times im sure they would have told us....or atleast done it.

its a 2009 model.....I doubt it was ever changed....

Check this address on Google earth: 34 6th street, Wynberg.

They have a sign board out front with their details. I bought a battery online via www.batteriesonline.co.za and I picked up at varta. If varta does not sell to you directly then check out the Web address, they were extremely helpful.
