Haha you have to drive one to know what I'm talking about. So much torque so comfortable. Air ride ftw.

*** oops... see now that I never checked the rest of the thread... so you can ignore my %$#* below :) ***

Hey Gizmo,

So, I just bought a 2009 X5 xDrive 4.8i M-Sport a few months back. I always wanted the 4.8 petrol, loved the power and the sound of the V8... but in all honesty... I was foolish. I should have gone and test driven the diesel to at least compare. I had preconceived ideas about the diesel, so I never did. It was a big mistake. I absolutely love the X5, but the fuel consumption is just something crazy. I get about 350-400km out of a tank, @ R1200 a tank, thats a bit rough. The diesel would have been way better - I have guys at work that easily double and triple that mileage...

Other than that, I really can't complain. The X5 is an awesome machine, handles like a dream, has all the mod cons.

I bought out of motorplan, but have not had to maintain yet. It won't be the cheapest maintenance, but should not be too bad.

Tyres you can get excellent prices (about R8k for a set of 4) from places like MonteCarloMagsandTyres - the only place I get tyres now.

In my humble opinion, I really would suggest that you look at diesel... the 3.0d is probably your best bet.

Regards,

P

Hey guys I'm back from my forced leave, lol.
Thank you to Sean for letting you guys know that my search is over for an X something, I purchased fanatics stock (Leonard ' X3) and am super chuffed. She does need the Gizmo touch though and I have already started on that. Indeed I did change the wheel, steering wheel that is! Got no time for e90 kak steering wheels in my rides...E46 M3 SMG steering wheel now resides in the X3, will soon have the paddles hooked up to the steptronic gearbox too. Will post the x3 build in the rides section later today.
