Hello folks,

After trading in the 645ci Vert last year I have gone through quite a selection of cars. The Merc was a total letdown, the Jeep was fun but wasted on me, and the Touareg, well...let's just say it was getting on in years.

Fast forward to now, and here I am just about ready to push the button on a BMW again :) Enter a facelift 740i (2006 model). Mint condition, low mileage, with verified full service history only with BMW :) Silver metallic with grey leather, comfort seats, shiny fine wood trim, and none of the really expensive options (think EDC, Dynamic Drive, etc.)

Going to look at her this evening, and might just conclude the deal there and then. Will keep you all posted.

Welcome back, Hugo_ZA.

I still have the nav update files you gave me, in case you need them to update the nav on the new 7'er.

Bud, you have no idea...I was contemplating an S-Class, but the 7 is just such a special car...especially the face-lift.

Holding thumbs!

And....

Its a done deal :) The car is in mint condition. The engine and gearbox are smooth as anything, the interior looks really sharp, and overall there is nothing to complain about. Being a facelift it has the benefit of much improved iDrive with MP3 support (head, and changer), improved climate control functions, radio control and sport steering wheel. I mentioned some key (read expensive) options which are not present:

* Dynamic Drive
* Self levelling suspension
* EDC
* Self Closing Trunk Lid

It does have soft close doors, and the soft close function extends to the trunk lid as well. Service was done earlier this month by BMW...and I am pleasantly surprised by the cost...less than R4500 :) I even had a chat with the service advisor who has been dealing with this car for the better part of the last two years.

If all goes well I will take delivery tomorrow afternoon sometime. After a proper valet I will post some pics!

Pm sent.

I am just not sure of that motor though, the N62B40 was not very popular,

I know that the N62B45 had problems on it, and was replaced in the facelift with the N62B48, which is phenomenal.

Its a major plus that you dont have the dynamic drive and crap, as that just multiplies your maintenance bill 10 fold

But yea, you wont be sorry.

If you want me to do a test drive on it, I will happily do so.

Currently working in Randburg during the day, and I know your out that side.

Haha thanks bud...the E65 uses the older MKIV system so those maps are no good I'm afraid.

Oh shit, I only see this now, sorry bud.

Another absolute moron that bought a car that is too big, is going to break, is impossible to maintain, has boat like suspension, and is completely illogical.

/Sarcasm Off

Congratz bud, that was a really wise investment and a totally epic car, you are going to love it.

Those comfort seats on the E65 *profuse drooling*

Enjoy her, and many happy miles.

and I do have, cant remember the year now, but the last set of maps that they did for the CCC , your welcome to pick up a copy

Picking her up this afternoon. Guy's wife pulled it out the garage and damaged the wing mirror on the driver side. Sent a photo and worst comes to worst I am sure some epoxy will sort it out chop-chop ;-)
