Thanks for all the kind words gents!

I will be using this thread as a project diary, so it will be quite pic heavy.

Here's one I took last weekend on Franschoek Pass.

I am just loving the car more and more. For me it is fast enough, the right size, and drop-dead gorgeous I will not be doing much exterior modifications, however, it didn't take long for me to realise that for me, the exhaust tone is a bit muted. This means that I will mostly focus on improving the sound characteristics of the car for now.

I will not do software until I gain more confidence in the car's abilities and also learn it's limitations, as I plan on keeping this one for more than 2 months

I have watched just about every exhaust clip on Youtube and decided that it had to be the BMW Performance exhaust.

I ordered it at Donford BMW on Monday, and to my surprize it arrived on Wednesday (today) already! I was so stoked that I had it fitted straight away.

I didn't expect that the BMW PE included the de-resonated midsection.

This mod really brings that N55 to life! It has a much deeper tone, lots more burbles, and the turbo whistle is much more audble. DCT shifts also sound great!

Next mod will definitely be a catless downpipe, with a cat fooler.
This is the sound that I'm after:

Some pics of the exhaust fitted on the car. I really like these stepped chrome tips. Suits the car well and looks very BMW!

I've finally registered it to my name - my first car on my own name ever!

Unfortunately the 520mm numberplate bracket was screwed into the plastic bumper, leaving four holes that will stick out beside the 440mm plate, so will have to get that repaired before sticking on the new plate.

Just had to take a pic without the numberplate, it looks SO much better without that ugly bracket.

Very nice . I also bought a 2012 dct 135I 3 weeks ago and I really am enjoying this little car . Coming from a tuned 330d it's a bit low on torque obviously but some mods can change that which I'm sure you will do too. Enjoy it !!

So I went for a bit of a cruise along the Cape peninsula to end off my weekend. This car just keeps rewarding...

Car looks sweet , you definitely going to enjoy it. Don't worry after a few mods that consumption isn't going to be as easy:rollsmile:

So I bought this 100mm AR Downpipe from a fellow fanatic (thanks Gaviny).

I fitted it a week ago and I think it just transforms the sound of the car. With the BMW Performance exhaust it sounds a LOT angrier, with a deep bass tone at low revs turning into a throaty shout as the revs climb.

It has no rasp, but it does have some drone under load at anything below 2500rpm. I have resorted to using the sport programme on the gearbox in order to make it shift at higher rpm in order to minimise the drone, but this of course makes me want to drive faster and also makes the car drink more fuel.

I'm thinking of putting the standard resonated mid section back. Hopefully this will remove most of the drone while keeping the beautiful higher tones. Opinions?

Oh and I took the car for its first ever dyno event this weekend! I think it made some decent numbers, with the DP adding 5kW and 56Nm over the claimed stock figures. I'm very happy with the results!

I love the 135i's - fantastic cars to drive. Personally I prefer the power deliver on the 135 over the E92 M3 - the torque band just starts so low down. Love it

Thanks, Paul. I'm enjoying the car more and more. It has just ticked over to 50 000km, which means I have covered 10 000km in 7 months of ownership.

Small update:

I have since swapped back the standard resonated mid section which took care of the horrendous drone and harshness from the exhaust without sacrificing all the nice sounds.

I have also installed a BMS intake which I had bought from a forum member (thanks Martin).
As far as performance goes, I doubt it does much (more prone to heat soak, actually), however the sound is quite nice.
I'm still not sure whether I should oil the filter or not. BMS says yes, other say no.

Do you perhaps have a friend that's fallen in love with your car and looking to buy one ? I have a 2012 model with 60,000 on the clock, looking to sell. Motorplan till March 2018 still.
