Doesn't have that V8 burble like the M5
i am obviously biased...,
but have you heard Abmi's 550i?

Its 2 different cars, offering to different types of performance.

the styling is from different eras, one(E39) probably a bit more timeless than the other, but the E60 does not look outdated.

Drove the 550i, nice drive, the car is very responsive.....gorgeous drive.....but missing a bit of sportiness.

I seriously doubt that the ///M can give you the same comfort levels with a spare wheel :roflol:

As Sash has said, you haven't heard my baby purr as yet

The 550i power is almost the same at the E39 M5 and with my Auto, I have killed many other so called fast boys on the road. It's certainly no sloth and handling is very underestimated. Yeah, it's not an ///M but I believe that you will enjoy it more as a daily.

It actually handles better than my E90 330i which was running Koni suspension on similar sized tyres. If you plan on hitting the track, then this car isn't for you.

Parts on the other hand is most likely going to be worse than the ///M cos there is almost nothing in the spare shops. I had to buy an oil filter from the agents which tells you something.

Good luck with your choice

on the 2 cars you looked at...theres not that much diff in mileage.....

so M5 it is...the dials, the colour...the M badge inside the boonet....how can you resist that.....

I would rather look at the speddo that reads 300km\h..with badges...thath the dull 260km\h 550 i dials

Getting more confused, saw a e60 M5 with 61000km for R280k

Hmm, E60 is the most debated car out there. My conclusion is: Great car, super thirsty, potential to cost more than car is worth in repairs... And it seems that as an owner you can do little to to it blowing up.

As someone that basically does a pre-start on all may cars... Not being able to pull a dip stick and check oil levels would drive me insane. My Jeep has frequently needed an oil top-up with no warning from the panel... :thumbdo:

I like to think that I would feel the same about the E39 as I do with my 540. Yes, sometimes I wish the suspension was a bit softer, or that I had an auto, but then I get to fire up the V8 after a long day at the office... or have a day where it all just comes together and all misgivings you had melts away and you can feel what you drive is special and full of character.
