Hi everyone,

Been struggling with an issue with my 320i e90 2006. At idle once car is warm I get random idle skip. sometimes it will even stall.

Air filter replaced, spark plugs replaced, coils swapped with know working ones and problem persists .

Scan comes up with pre cat o2 heater error. But been told that cant cause what I an experiencing

Any ideas?

Been told I need to check pcv. Anyone know how to diagnose for pcv fault?

The Person that told you that it is not the Oxygen sensor, is an idiot. I was thinking oxygen sensor even before opening the thread.

Hmmm...odd. two different bmw tech told me that.

Will ask around to make sure.

On an extremely tight budget so only want to fix what I have to.

Thanks.

Think why they say its not o2 sensor is because fault is heating error only

could be a few things...have you checked for a leak in your intake pipes? a small vacuum leak could through th 02 sensors out...

OK! So after some more tests and stuff, points to intake valve issue.

We're hoping its just some carbon. So running some intake cleaner and hoping it clears the issue. if not, will have to open up (sigh )

I would check and clean the filters, MAF sensor and o2 as well.

Which filters?
Maf clean was the first thing we tried.
One pre cat o2 is giving a heater error. But was told that wouldn't cause my issue. Not sure how true that is.

Had the same issue with my previous car. Got a rough idle now and again and somtimes it switched off. Diagnostics showed Bank 1 pre-O2 sensor heater error.

I had it replaced with a bosch sensor and the issue stopped. But have the sensor checked out 1st. It could also be the sensor wiring that could cause that issue.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys.
Still having the issue and its starting to become a safety issue.
Will get that replaced first, I think.

By the way, a friend disconnected my eccentric sensor for vvt. This seems to have helped with the idle problem.
With this test, could it still be the o2 sensor?
