As some of you will know I have a hybrid M88 / S38 motor.

I need an extra 10% power increase so I was looking for input and suggestions.

Thank you all

Don't you mean normally aspirated - Hybrid is half battery half petrol powered from my understanding.
I see that you've hot you extractors , look into cold air induction kit, power pulleys ,some software and if all else fails, stick a turbo on it

Looks like you are setup for some serious heat soak with that cone filter. Any cooling that we can't see around it?

Nope I mean hybrid
definition: composite:formed or composed of heterogeneous elements

On the cold intake part I am in absolute agreement with you will need to look closer at that and try make a plan. Thanks.

A set of headers, custom exhaust, cold air intake, set of cams and a tune for starters.

23kw is alot to gain from a N/A motor, i rate start with the above N/A mods and work from there.

But keep it N/A. That e30 Vert you have is a beauty. Even if it does not make the xtra 23kw is stil one damn special car.

An M88/S38 in an E30???? What did you take that out of? Something special? :fencelook:

Ok, so let's pretend for a moment that you have a standard M88 with 285HP. (I'm more familiar with HP)

As I'm sure you know the motorsport M88 had up to 430HP, here is a little CSL inspiration for you.

http://www.stanceworks.com/2012/11/bmw-of-north-americas-vintage-collection-the-bmw-e9-csl/

Fkn beautiful.

The S38B38, around 335HP with rumours (kinda proven) that there was a 400HP version in a select few very very special E34 M5 cars.

see http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e34-m5-discussion/114459-e34-m5-400bhp.html

Assuming you have the 3535cc s38S36 86mm crank no? or the 84mm from the M88?

Not knowing what you've done already I'm going to just roll....

It looks like trying to improve the S38 engine takes some serious commitment, but...400HP streetable should be possible, highly strung yes, reliable, maybe. With modern tech, doable.

Emerald, Omex, Vems, DTA, these are the best standalone management systems, and the only way I see you doing it. An alternative is the Fritz Bits chip, if anyone can tell you how to get to 400HP it's those guys.

Open trumpets, 280 or 272 Schrick intake cam, Management, Exhaust (Fritz or maybe vd Linde)
I'm going to assume you are not keen to bore/stroke/dismantle

Actually just read this! :) They know far more than I!

Replace the cone with a standard intake, will give better and more consistant results. If the headers not stock, replace with the stock ones. Look at making the exhaust as it is on the e34 M5. More aggresive cams.

In answer to various questions:
S38 crank and complete head
M88 Block and pistons intake injectors and ECU
BMW Motorsport eprom chip.

Headers by TNT following the standard M88 headers but bent to clear the car.
Exhaust M3

Standard intake will not fit as space is at a premium so the cone is a compromise.

yes cuz that engine in that body is not fast enough:rollsmile:

Normal NA mods not really an option on an M motor hey? cams/head/zorst/chip

Thers always a shot of gas to scratch the itch, but it would be a shame on that beauty.

theres always the 3.8 crank assuming you are 3.6:rollsmile:

Bruce already suggest it and I have decided to fit 2 of them.

I think 3 may be a bit to much power
