Hello guys
In the last few days I have once again fallen out of love with the Mini.
The brakes are going to cost R4500 to be fixed. The car leaks. The engine needs one hell of a service. The rims have white worm. The car is suffering.
And so am I.
I hate getting into a car which I really love and questioning its integrity. Is it going to break down? If not what vital mechanism (brakes for example) is going to let me down...
So... I have a job interview tomorrow which hopefully I will get. If I get this job I will keep the Mini and buy another car. But if I dont I may end up selling the Mini anyway.
The replacement:
- B5 Audi A3 or A4 (Maybe an Avant as I love them)
- BMW 5 series (1999 model or prior)
- BMW 3 series (E46 or E36)
- MK3 Golf GTI
- MK4 Golf Comfortline 1.6
- Smart Cabriolet (Still love these)
- Suggest me a car?
I know that the maintenance cost on a B5 Audi A6 or A4 Avant is high. But its less likely to break then this Mini is. The other issue is that the MINI cannot be a daily driver. At its age and mileage it isnt suited for it. Hence why I want a older NA engine car like an Audi or BMW with a bulletproof engine to use as a daily.
The Mini gets sh*t fuel economy anyway and the partner and I want to do a few road trips near the end of this year. South Coast etc etc and a Audi A6 or even a 2.8 Litre Avant is perfect for this, They may be big engines but they are economical.
I dont know what to do. Keep the Mini and buy a second car. Or sell the Mini and buy something more reliable until I can afford to run a Mini? If I get this job I will be able to run both. If not then Im screwed.
Any suggestions?
Mike
