I need a second opinion .........

Hi guys i need a second opinion on the rattle that iam experiancing on my car. Is there anyone in the centurion/surrounding area's that could give me there opinion. To me it sound like the timing chain but i want to be sure before i under take this DIY.

I replaced a timing chain and pulley on my e36 in the first week I had the car.

It went something like this:

On idle you can hear the chain rattle, and as soon as you raise the revs ever so slightly, the noise goes away.

If this sounds familiar, it might just be the timing chain, but let them change the pulley too. Cost me about 4k. They had to regas the aircon too.

does have a rattle on start up but it does go away , but while driving it starts if i accelerate hard after 4000rpm.

I would, but I don't have much experience with timing chains. Why not call BMW, ask for service department, tell the guy your car is making a strange sound and if he can give it a quick listen some time during the day. They should help you out and it won't cost you a thing. Plus these guys usually know their BMWs and he'd be able to tell you immediately...
