I have joined the "clan"

So it has been just over a year without having the luxury of 2 cars, one as a back up when the other is "sick"...since the insurance write off of the E38. ( https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=72763 )

Since then the E39 has given me way too much "uphill" in the last year, and I have been a pedestrian on a few occasions..10 years of trouble free, and now the eleventh year the "hits" are coming fast and furious, every few weeks or months.

1) Engine mountings, preventing the use of reverse gear, or have the engine climb out of the hood...........replaced
2) ABS module, "tri-factor"......repaired
3) Y-junction cooling flange hissing steam.........repaired/replaced
4) Burst radiator........replaced
5) Snapped serpentine belt......replaced
6) Brake shudder between 100kmh - 80kmh....probably warped disks....drive carefully for now
7) Since the burst radiator, using about 1/2 litre of water, no sign of cooling system leak, so assume it is being used up in the engine (maybe a minor damaged head gasket)....drive carefully and monitor regularily

at 270 000+ km on the clock, and insured value below R60 k now, I have this uneasy feeling that I am going to be in for some more pedestrian in the future

Being a normal salaried employee again, and one that has to travel vast distances from time to time, I needed a back up
Luckily the salary is allowing me to financially recover somewhat, since exiting the money pit that Speedway was, but the retirement age is also rapidly approaching, so I need to be cautious, with the remaining savings.

so either it was going to be a cheapy back up
or
a slightly more expensive and possibly investment as a back up

the decision was made, and today I took delivery

lets see how this turns out for me.

Excellent choice Sir Ralf!
This seems to be a very well looked after Z4, may she give you many happy KMs while the 5er rests a bit!

A quick wipe down with a wet cloth to remove the muddy water evidence from yesterdays heavy rain, and a follow up with a polish rag
