Hi, it's a 1994, so i dont know if it is vanos, all i know is that it will need a new timing belt soon, it's a manual

Erm...

Not quite..

BMW's dont run timing belts, it runs timing chains...

If you have a noise/rattle/single purple dino noise coming from there, its more then likey a tentioner or something, and I would have it fixed ASAP.

Those chains are virtually indestructable....

According to the current owner he has had the belt replaced, he has also showed me the old belt, i dont know if maybe someone did him in , there's no noise, i drove that car two weeks back 900km

before i forget, my 316 e36 had a belt

Could possibly be the main and aux belt that drives the front of the motor bits, such as the water pump, altenator, aircon, Freeze dryed coffee maker...

But has nothing to do with timing,

The m50 motor (320i,325i) and m52 (323i) are inline 6 don't use the timing belt, they use the chains, unless you talk about the two fan belts, congrats on the car, I love the e36 it's a pity most people can't take care of their cars. Mostly are craps, very few are in good condition though

It has 343 000km's on it and it needs some work, the windows dont work, needs a new bushing at rear suspension an the rooflining is hanging, and they dont use the car anymore, the guy works with me.
