I hate these f@#king Joburg roads

Sorry guys but i just have to vent on how i F@#cking hate these joburg roads:cursin:. Specifically when they resurface and do not slope the new surface onto the old road. If you drive an E90 sportpack with 18" and runflats you know what i mean. When you go over these clever deviations it feels like your teeth are going to come out of your head.

For F@#k sake.

I'm so glad that my rims have not buckled in any way on these wonderful roads. But i think my tyre balancing has been thrown off, because at 130km you can hear it. Theres no vibration on the steering or under braking so thats a blessing.

But come on, these guys need to use some common sense when doing road works. There have been so many others out there that have blown theirs tyres and/or buckled their rims because of this.

Oh well....I feel a bit better know after venting. :wave:

i have 17" with runflats on mine and i would so love to get hold of the clowns that do this... clearly 1+1 would be 11 for them and that's how stupid they are.
i mean anyone with half a brain would know and realise that this can mess up tyres + mags... unless that's just one more way for our lovely government to make money...

I understand how you feel. When I come to Jhb, its a smooth ride from Witbank till Benoni. Then the uneven roads. Some bumps make me feel like my I damaged my from spoiler :hammerhead::hammerhead::cursin::cursin::banghead::banghead:

Not JHB though, but I lost a tyre (with 1500km on) on a pothole. Last week, to the date, 2 YEARS after I sent in my claim, I got a simple fax stating that after thorough investigation, they found that the Dept is not liable for my damages... MORONS!!! R1600 down the tubes.

Actually think that an SUV is whats required for the Joburg roads these days and just use the Beemer for the trips down the N3 to durbs and trips to the local shops and gym.

The road in general are a joke, and the fact that they want us to pay to drive on them is eve worse, these "new" highways are made so totally crappy it should be illegal, but I could go on about this for some time and I really am not in a mood to push up my blood pressure and I also don't want to start swearing on a public forum.

They have redone some bits of the N2 down here and I just can't believe how uneven it is. Some of the old bits feels smoother than the new bits. We drove on the R300 (Which was redone) the other day while it was raining. People were driving almost 60km with hazards on as the water on the road goes nowhere.

I would not be surprised if all these "new" roads start to fall to pieces after a couple of months. Back when I still went to the university (of pretoria) every now and then you could just see how badly these roads are made nowadays. They "upgraded" some of the roads around the uni and in the hatfield area due them changing some of the roads to oneway and then back and the one way and then back and then oneway and then back..... anyway after they finished building the new roads, it only took one (just one) heavy rain storm (relatively heavy) and the potholes started appearing, and it is not due to soil erosion being a problme in the area as you can drive a hundred or so meters further to one of the old sections of road and it is 100% perfect. Even the brick intersections they built only lasted a couple of months before the ground underneath it started to collapse and the intersection looked like it has speed dips, so to speak. And looking at the condition that the "new" highways are like now I fear that the same will start to happen to them before to long, only difference is they expect us to pay for that crap.

JHB road much better than Limpopo/North West road.

N1 from polokwane to Louis Trichard is worse.

been thru alot of tyres over past few months due to formation of bubbles/bulges from hardknocks so i know exactly what you're talking about
