If you have to repair, might as well look at upgrades while you're at it.

Also, get an aftermarket warranty. They would have covered a portion of the bill down the line.

Yeah not worth going to all that effort to get to the turbos and then not upgrading them at the same time.

I've been looking at warranties from Innovation, Motorvaps and Motorite, which of these would you recommend?

Congrats on the new car!!! Terrible feeling once you've bought something and realize you may have made a mistake.

Take it as school fees and once she is 100 % right, you will be very happy.

I had to pay school fees and a lot of it on the E60 M5. But love her to bits now that she is 100%

Don't take motorvaps! I was with them and my water pump broke and wanted to claim (that would of been my first claim) and they refused to pay and dodged all calls from us.

and we had 4 cars with them, canceled all now and going to take out innovation warranty now

Be careful with these policies when your car if modified. They look for anyway not to pay out. They saw I had BMS airtakes and therefore refused to pay towards my turbos when the seals went.
You need to make sure your RMI approved workshop will help regarding putting the car back to stock should an assessor be sent out. I wasted R14k on the policy for my 335i and got R0 paid out. An older car I had paid about R8k and claimed about R10k-R12k against it. You win some, you lose some, but you are more likely to lose out if your car is modified. Both policies were with Innovation.

Hi bud,

I worked for Innovation Group 4 years ago, I would say go with them or Motorite...not sure about motorvaps but the other 2 I have experience with and they are good.

Okay I'll be sure to read the fine print and take my time! Don't want to get screwed twice on the same car [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

 sorry to hear that.

I just went through a turbo(s) issue on my X5 3.0sd. Had a small oil leak and took it to BMW. They replaced the diesel line and told me it was fixed.

The oil leak persisted and I took it back to BMW, who then quoted me R42k to replace the turbo system.

After this point, the car lost low rev power.

I then took it to ProCar who told me they needed to recon one of the turbos, which I paid R13k for. They did the work and handed my car back, but it still had the problem. They then wanted another R8k to recon the 2nd turbo, but I refused and told them they needed to find the problem and fix it.

Eventually after a bit of pressure from me and head-scratching from them, they located the real issue which was actually in the pipe work.

Moral of the story, find a really good mechanic and don't trust first opinions, even from the dealers.

I'm assuming this was a boost leak issue.
