Took my car in a few days ago to a very reputable shop in Randburg
Mechanical inspection was done. This is what came up:

- Rear trailing arm bushes (polyurethane)
- New front left lower control arm
- Caster bushes/ front lower control arm bushes
- Power steering pipe (Mine has started to sag and is rubbing on the sump guard)
- New discs, pads and sensors all round.
- New right side steering rack boot. mine is torn.

Total: R23 300.00 including Vat

Car is an '05 E46 320i 72000kms

They have already done a compression and leakage test and results were shap! Motor is fresh!

what u guys(n gals) think?

Maybe run this past Gizmo as well, but I think it is way too much.

That does sound a bit much man.

And if it is the shop in Randburg that I am thinking about, they are expensive out of principle.

What I would do in this case, source all the parts, prob for about 7 to 10k from what i can see, but thats a guess, and then either do that yourself, or pay an independant to do that.

All of the repairs mentioned above is are bolt and nut jobs, meaning that there are no real special skills needed to do them, so I guess, you will come out at about half that.

Bushes are about 4k.
Control Arm about 2k
Power steering pipe you can find at as scrap yard for about 300 to 500

Disk, pads all round is about 3k

Boot is cheap, just plenty labour.

This is about a day to two days to do, the bushes and the control arm you can have done at any alignment shop as well, most of them will do it, and you can buy the spares.

Take it to Dave Robinson, 082 572 1049, 23 Milner road Randburg/Kensington B. As he is also in Randburg area.. See what prices he says.

But why not get Gizmo to do it, He can source the control arms, bushes and stuff for much cheaper

Hey Dean, rather hang back with any work this week while you get some fresh quotes. R23k is a daylight ripoff!

Thanks Gizmo!!!

Got oem RTAB's today.

Will get the rest of the stuff from you.

How much would 330i brake set be? I need 17" rims right?

Gizmo

Looking at around R700 per disc (new). Pads around R600 a set and 330i calipers around R1000 for the set. You do need a minimum wheel size of 17" to clear the 325mm disc and caliper. Other than that, its bolt-on and bleed, DONE!

@Gizmo (and i'm gonna jack the thread becuase I know De@nO is also thinking of doing this): Speaking of bleeding, have you done a CDV delete before? Would you recommend it?

I haven't done one before but its very easy to do. I would recommend it if you drive fast...
