Z4 Front shocks replacement?

I bought a 2011 Z4 E89 35i a month ago. The very first time I took it for a test drive it felt like driver side front shock bottomed out when going over a speed bump. Reported it to the dealer who sent it to an expert, and they replaced both lower control arm bushes. Problem persisted so I decided to take it to a local Dekra test center. R425 and a complete suspension check was done, front and rear. Driver side front shock is absolutely toast, as I suspected from the word go. At least now I know everything else is perfect front and rear, and I'll have to have the front shocks replaced. My question now is which shocks will give me the best overall service and performance? I will appreciate you guy's expertise in this regard?

Morning Bud - My personal opinion would be Bilstein in regards to lifespan, ride quality and handling I don't think you can go wrong. However I don't own a Z4 personally but I'm sure other members can advise otherwise.

Yeah, thanks bud. Didn't get a very favorable response from Bilstein supplier this morning. He checked according to my VIN and informed me it's EDC shocks only available from BMW😳🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
BMW dealership confirmed he's correct. Big blow but what can you do? It is what it is. I'll take up the fight with the dealership where I bought the car from.....

Sorry bud.

If you don't win with the dealership also price a set of decent quality coilovers and compare to the EDC shocks.

Fortunately the car dealership has agreed to replace the faulty shock. To replace both front shocks would be R34k. You would need somebody to program out the error codes if you went with a sport suspension. Pretty sure it can and has been done. Would've investigated that option if it wasn't still under dealership warranty.

Bit odd that one, often supplied EDC units , even the E92 M3 units are not to difficult to find in Bilstein.

I checked on Bilstein website, sad but true, all their e89 z4 shocks on catalogue are only for non electronic suspension control ☹️pretty sure would have saved big time if they did cater for it?

Never seen this in a long time, but you are correct that these are very rare, the usual OEM's don't make these, checked the Bilstein and Sachs dealer listing and nothing shows up.
