Damn....:pimp:

Remember the new pump #933 pump was only released in March 2010. So he probably had a 2009 pump installed in his 2010 model....my wishful thinking :mmm:

There are some cases where guys changing altitude get a fault someway half way down or up. Happens to a lot of people driving up from Durban. If your car is not taking long to crank in the mornings when cold you shouldn't worry.

Driving from work today, for a second time, I had the Engine Fault Light. I think its time to book the car to be checked.

Damn that is not nice. I think bmw was experimenting with the 135/335. Hope the new M5 will be without these limp mode issues. Are you close to George Smooth? If so have the car checked by bmw but also link up with a bmw 335/135 owner, to help each other maybe its something that George with his experience could pinpoint and the dealer may not.

Thanks Twinz, yeah I met George Smooth in Kyalami when we had the JHB x35 meeting. I will book the car in tomorrow. The Engine Light disappears after you switch the car off and on again. I hope there is a way to diagnose the problem.

My car done the same thing before software. Car was strong standard, went to BMW and came back. You could feel that the car was detuned. BMW loaded new software. They probably think people are stupid and ignorant of their dealings:cursin:

I can confirm this, when I got my '08 335 in December I sent it to the dealership for a 20 point quality check and also because the engine light came on a few times, the techie said the problem was the hpfp so they did some sort of software upgrade but didn't replace it. That following weekend I took it in for a stage 1 file and when the tuner put it on the dyno, stock she made 10-15hp less than other 335s he had on the dyno. Initially I thought it was just my luck I probably got a "Friday" car but now it seems to make sense........and guess what, 2 days ago the engine light came on again, lost all power had to pull off switch the car off, waited for a few seconds and started again, back to normal. She's almost due for a service and this time I'm going to make sure they fit the latest revision hpfp.

All the best. I really hope they install a new pump and not their silly software.

Hi Guys i know this is covered alot in past threads, but i think i finally have this problem... started off with long cranking (worse when its a cold morning), now the car refuses to accelerate, it goes immediately into limp mode when i accelerate briskly... switch off and on and car is fine, them it happens all over again, a journey to work now involves at least 10 start ups... sometimes the management light doesnt come on and the car sounds like it has a burst exhaust pipe not accelerating at all... anyone experienced this??

Had the exact same symptoms a while back when everyone told me the 335 has no issues etc. My car went in like 5 times for the brief period i had it. Could not take it any longer and got rid of the car.

Best is to hound the dealer to sort it out and not give BS stories like how i had.

Goodluck dude.

Further update:

I took my car in this morning for Aircon fix and was suprised at other items fixed

1. Item 0059091 Replace High Pressure Pump
2. Part 13 51 7 616 446XP AT-HIGH-PRES R4156.22

I see part 446 is the latest HPFP...I hear BMW is on N54 HPFP part number eight, at last count. :mmm:

The latest Service Bulletin SI B13 13 10 on HPFP recall in USA can be downloaded here.
