Saw this earlier! Very good way of showing how the Vanos works, and for those with engines like the N52 - the Vanos solenoids are usually the items that fail or become clogged up with oil sludge (thanks to lengthy oil service intervals). So in some cases they need to be replaced, but in most cases they can be cleaned. In some cases these Vanos solenoids have a filter which can be replaced along with O-rings.
