I find with my car its way way WAY faster to launch harder. I.e at higher RPM even if you spin ( alot ) at the line,
it quicker.

If you launch too low, about 2500 - 3000 rpm, it might bog, and its really not in its power range.
I launch at 3500 rpm, and just drop the clutch, as soon as i feel i have traction i plant my foot.

This is for the E46 thought.

yeah, with the e46 smg, launch control worked well at about 4000rpm.
with the v8, the launch feels faster at highr rpm(3500) but there is way too much wheel spin.

Traction control off...4000 rpm...release clutch...feather throttle to maintain traction while still pulling forward...once you off the line give it the beans...

well that's how I do it on the Play Station :)

2500 to 3000 rpm for light and easy launch but definitely 3500 - 4000 rpm with feathering for more aggressive jump from the line and from what i hear if traction is good go for 5000 rpm with good feathering footwork...
definitely easier said than done thats for sure and make sure you got good tread on rear tyres to start with lol

best thing would be try different rpm's and see what works for you.my x e46 M3 got off the line nicely just below 2500rpm but other guys would opt for higher rpm, road surface, etc also come into play when launching the car.

For the E46 M, I launch between 3000-3500 rpm. get a little wheel spin but i find this the best (for me) getting off the line. tried at 4000- too much wheel spin.
