How to drive an M3

inasmuch as power output of the motor has bearing on performance it is not the only factor. The way that power is delivered would have a bearing on the experience (manifestation) of performance.

Surely the M button would get the car to 100 faster than in normal mode?

Power output is mostly static, power delivery is not.

Only if you needed this coach.

But if you already know how to push the right pedal all the way down, then NO!

EDC is your traction control settings if I remember correctly.
Or was that DSC?

EDC - electronic damper control = stiffness of the shocks

DSC - Dynamic stability control = the nanny that prevents you from falling off the road sideways.

Oooohh riiiiight!

Ey I tell you, you 63 drivers dunno fcukal... only on and off:rollsmile:

Technically the M button does whatever it was set up to do! Mine was set to gearbox on most violent setting with MDM engaged (TC off allows a further severity setting), MDM, EDC to Sport and obviously the power button (throttle response) on. Would recommend setting it up to leave all nannies on with full EDC, Power and Gearbox cranked up while you get to know the car. MDM allows a surprising amount of slip. I am assuming we are referring to a DCT car here but for a manual it's all the same bar the gearbox setting obviously.

OK read OP again... Suggest you give Launch Control a whirl in a controlled environment on unmolested tyres. Trust me on this.
It's quite a procedure to get going but it's worth it.
Basically, drive the car for 10kms and don't switch off (ie forces you to warm up).
Stop on completely flat surface (if car rolls or you touch brakes, it won't let you use LC)
M button on
TC off completely
Gearbox to full severity
Push lever forward and look for racing flag icon
Floor throttle
Release gear lever and hold on!

Not needed on DCT:thumbs:

@ Derrick, just go out and drive the car dude, no one here knows your level of skill ect, only you can drive your car to a point where you know you can handle what she is doing. I'm sure some the guys here would love powersliding all over South Africa and others who wouldn't dare go near the DSC button. So bottom line, just enjoy the car in your own way, she is an amazing machine, to both the skilled and semi/unskilled alike:thumbs:

"Scotty, Can you give me warp speed?"

"No Cappen, the presets on the M button are not configured any longer, who knows how the engine might respond and theres an asteroid approaching, I cana hol et much longerrrr."

"Dammit Scotty, I said Warp speed!"

Piccard presses the M button, and they hit the asteroid dead centre, totaled the front of the Voyager (m3) and Captain piccard gets a nice airbag scrape across his face.

"Ha, says Scotty, that will teach him to press the M button when he doesn't know what it does."
