How much milage is too much milage?

The n54/55 are temperamental cars but they are not unreliable! I have put a ton of mileage on mine and its much higher than everyone here has posted on theirs, mines been tuned since I got it and the only failures I can speak of that got me stuck was a failed alternator 250km from home....

Parts are not cheap so don't expect e36/46 prices if you expecting that... However if you have a DIY sense about yourself there isn't anything you can handle... If you buying outside of motorplan then get yourself an aftermarket warrantee and that will cover most of the big ticket items that may pop up...

Most importantly the x35 is a very rewarding car if you want to have fun!

mine is hitting 100 000km now.
did full service and brakes now, cost me +- R8000 with labour. it isn't a cheap car to maintain, but im pretty sure if you can afford to buy it u must be able to maintain it too.
I just realised, fuel costs me more than anything else. :joy::joy::joy::argh::argh:

I honestly don't think they are heavy maintenance wise.
The main issues are sorted by motorplan by way of recalls for the N54 and the N55 (Only recall really was for a battery cable).
Everything else, the cars are decent really.
My N55 is on 109k km's now and still drives like a dream.

Only the abusers need to budget R50k PA for repairs. If you love your car and take care of it, it shouldn't cost more than R20k PA to maintain.

The car may be going to Cayenne in Kyalami soon, maybe this week or early next.

I beg to differ... I have two Ms, one for 4 years now and no breakages and they get tracked. Services are a tad more than a normal BMW because of the delicious oils...

Turbos are a problemmo though.

Hi all,

Looking at maybe getting a 135i but a little weary since most of the ones available are all sitting at 70k+.

Is this too high a milage? A bit of a noob and first time buying previously owned so a little jittery.

Also what items are likely to need replacing if the car is out of motor-plan?
Most I'm looking at are N54 motors and searched through the forum but all I know is N55 is alot better.

Forgive my ignorance. Coming from a Toyota so your experience will be appreciated.
