i want to purchase clear indicators and taillights.

stealers want R1460 for clear indicators and R4500 for taillights.

i found a site on the forum that sells them.
$36 (R250) for clear indicators and
$150 (R1100) for tail lights.

their shipping fees is $69 (R500)

how much can i expect to pay for import duties etc on these items??

do you guys recommend clears or smoked indicators and taillights?? (will go onto a white e46 FL)

thanks in advance

cheers

You will pay a total of about 40% to sars.. Duties plus vat

Problem is, there are many cheap crap quality lights available so don't get too excited about seeing low prices

Always check the brand.. U dnt want them leaking, falling out or misting up

Yep beware of cheap kak, there is alot of it around. I would say 40% is the worst case scenerio, but you need to bank on worst. I have never had car parts come in at more then 14% (vat) though. Small stuff can normally sneak in.

please excuse my ignorance but this will be my first import.

Do I have to pay 40% of the price of the goods?? If so how will they how much I paid for the items?

they keep good stuff :) with sars you just dont know how much import duty you looking at... just bank on 40% then if it comes less think of it as a discount it seems most of the time it is lower than 40% thou

Hi guys I have my own clearing bsuiness and the duty on car parts is 15% but there are ways around it so that you only pay vat which is worked out as value + 10% and 14% of that total value
