How much have you spent on your cabby?

Mike, do you mod any of your cars, or do they get kept standard?

I think the most modified car I have is my Mini, second most modded would probably be the Exige. The others just have small minor modifications such as wheels (rarely do so), dump valves and mostly imported exhaust systems. I generally stay away from going over the top, car becomes unreliable and I'm not the type of person that has the patience to leave the car at a workshop for months.

Hi Guys

My first post

I have a BMW 120d

Spent:
10K on Rockford Sound
8K on Kenwood DVD/bluetooth headunit

And mapped the car myself

150kw and 440nm

The rest of the mods are from the spec list when i ordered

nice, you obviously enjoy your sound :) And you mapped it yourself??? I suppose that has something to do with the username?

Get some pics of that car up so we can see the sound ;)

Guys.. I gotta be honest.. invoices NO WAY.. for the wife reasons above

As for the R270k plus I've spent

That's very conservative and there's loads more plus than minus. I'm not boasting here, rather hiding in fear from the wrath of the wife :) lol..

Don't forget the stage I had when I was running the carbon fiber intake and pulley kit and CA-Auto software upgrade which is extra...

I wont post invoices but you are welcome to check my car for the mods and then trawl the web for the prices in dollars.. then just add 20% import duty and shipping costs....sigh....!

I would SO rather have this addiction in the states where it wouldn't cost me so bloody much

Whats the cost of exporting AND importing the same (upgraded) car then? Say R200k worth of items were imported, at 20% that gives you R40k, plus say 10% S&H, which brings us to R60k. WOW. You should be able to return trip a car for that. But there is probable one catch: Cash flow. R200k (minus the shipping saving) in say 2 months or R200k over 3 years...

dont forget vat and clearing costs..

i'd say when looking at importing, just add about 40% to the cost, coz thats what you'll be paying to customs and the agent.
then, of course, there is the freight charge.

A lot of people send theres in to a company in the states, who in turn send you a "empty" replacement valve which goes in place of the old one. I would like to do this on my car, as sometimes the clutch feels a bit vague on quick pull offs.

Hi Matt
My response to your challenge would also be curbed by how much I want to make public...so I was playing the challenge...your car and mine is already in the public domain for people to see at zeemax when they want to...so i think i will probably eclipse your expense with the "BMW fanatics sticker" i bought last month...heehee...then again we would not be "fanatics" if we did not spend on our caddies...and then we can't hide much if your vendor's and friends name starts with an "R" (follow my eyes) and he sees the invoices regularly...:censored:
