How do you track your fuel economy/expense?

Thought it would be interesting to see how fellow fanatics track their fuel economy, spend, etc. I created a form in Google Docs which populates a spreadsheet. On the spreadsheet I then created formulas and values that track economy, spend, distance, average values etc. :)

I use fuelly. Each time I go to the fuel pump I request an autostop fill up. That way I get an accurate reading (or very close to it) each time.

I have also been playing around with the obd dongle to read all sensors and calc the readings based on that, not 100% accurate yet but will upload some pics later

I don't have the need to track this, good idea on a form though.
Active tracking on the car + cc records is all I need. Can work this out whenever, wherever if I were to. :=):

Thats a great method you're using. I'd really like to set one up for my car.

Nice spreadsheet! I used to log my info like this also. Found an app called Car Logbook, works well but does the same as your spreadsheet. I try not look at average consumption:blueCry:

The is an app called aCar. I use that. You enter every rand you spend of the car (fuel / service / tires / repairs). It give you nice graphs and calculates the actual cost of your car and even gives you notices of upcoming services.

It's super simple. I can share the form with you if you have google drive and show you how to set up the spreadsheet. All you need to do then is create a shortcut to the form on your phone and use it every time you stop for fuel.

It's nifty, ready-made solution but I like being able to add things such as the Actual VS Average KVA values etc. I have a second tab in that sheet where I record maintenance related issues.

I tried Fuelly a couple of years back but the app only worked in US units and I couldn't be bothered to do conversions. Also, I almost never fill the tank...

The only track I keep of it is when the fuel gauge approaches E, then I fill up.

My DD e30's trip meter doesnt even work anymore, and quite frankly it doesnt really bother me. Simply fill up when its empty.

I think if it was working, I probably would have had such a shock at the poor consumption that I wouldn't want to drive it anymore:blueCry:

They do metric units as well. If you aren't filling up the tank, how do you know what you're using? Do you run the tank completely empty every time?

I use a app on android call Fuel log. Works great.

It works out the consumption, average monthly cost and total spent on vehicle.

Easy app to work on and can add multiple vehicles with ease. Can also export the log to a excell .csv file.

Anyways, here is my new method I spoke about. Still doing fine tuning in the consumption department but no out by much.

I've been using Fuelio for a couple of years. Pretty basic, but works perfectly.
