Hot wire E36 Push Start

So I "had" the spinning key of death with the track car. After pulling a MacGyver by turning it till I felt a bit of resistance, then removed the key about 5mm and turned some more I could get the car to start.

So after doing that for a few days I took the car to have the cats removed = Suceess (Must post vids of sound change) I was in my driveway and did my MacGyver again and a slightly different *Click* was heard and the key went from spin spin sugar to completely and utterly STUCK in the Ignition ON stage. Nice pretty lights all shining on the dash, but i couldn't turn it to make the engine swing over or back to completely turn off. But I can remove the key as many times as i like.
Next step was to disconnect terminals from battery to power the car down... Done.

I know it's a common problem with the E36 - Ignition barrel in it's aunties what what... So I called a locksmith (After Freerider says it should cost more than R450) who then quoted me R1400 to "fix" :argh:

Seeing that this is track toy, Im not interested in spending R1.4k mending it, so I have decided to go the push button route.

There are some switches available online for about R300 with Kill switch and button to start.

Now HOW THE HELL DO I FIT THIS? :fencelook:

I have done the "Let me google that for you" with little success. I dont want to install a Z8 start button, I do not want to use a screwdriver to touch 2 terminals, Im not interested in security as the car will be garaged or Driven at the track no where else.

I have however found this which kinda helps.

So my question/s is/are:
"Anyone (IN CPT) know How to do this mod for CHEAP-ish?"
"Anyone (IN CPT) want to HELP with this?" I'll supply the Johnny Black Label and ice
"Anyone (IN CPT) who knows how to and is willing to help with this BEFORE the 22nd April?"

If you do help me, you get to put your company name or your name on the car as part of the Contributor List in this "Reach for a Dream" project :ty:

What does a tumbler cost?

I just tried Bruce's and Cliftons, no parts avail. BUT Cliftons just explained over the phone how to start it with a screw driver. :)

I shall document this in detail and post up a DIY E36 hotwire Macgyver

Here is the simple freerider guide to start switch DIYing

StartSwitchDIY.jpg

Ign pos 1 switch will be one of those red main switches, which has a removable key. Not fool proof, but will stop randoms from simply pressing the start button and away they go.
BTW, Simon, did you forget your phone at home? I tried to call you.
