Horrible service from BMW Rustenburg

Thought I would share this. Its unbelievably bad.

My buddy at work has some issues with his VVT on a 318i. He went to BMW and asked to speak to a service technician and that he will maybe require diagnostics then as he thinks something is wrong with the VVT.

The lady at the service counter (He thinks her name was Alecia) told him it doesn't work like that and that first an appointment must be made for the vehicle to come in and be checked. Then it will cost about 5 to R8k. This was not said in a friendly manner at all.

Happened in Afrikaans: "Nee, hier werk dit nie so nie. Eers moet jy n afspraak maak, sodat die kar kan in kom dan kyk ons wat is dit en dit sal so tussen 5 en R8k kos."

So...how would you have reacted? I think I would have been to shocked to say anything. He i pretty negative and dissapointed in BMW.

By the sound of things and recent horror tales about BMW after sales service, it is becomming cleare to me that BMW is training their people in SA to be a bunch of f...ing as...les !!! Is BMW trying to sabbotage them selves and get chased out of SA ?

Apparently that costs extra ! :argh:

I must admit, not all dealerships are like this.
Auto Bavaria once reset and re-initialized my steering angle sensor on the 330i for free. Yes for free :dropjaw:. A car that was out of M/P for more than a year.

I would say get in touch with the dealer principal and let him deal with staff that think they own the dealership.

Problem is that its not BMW or BMW Group affiliated, they are all locally trained end employeed by franchises like Unitrans motors that trade under the BMW name. BMW group in SA should take note of this and ensure that there is a fixed level of service accross the board, its their brand image that is being negatively effected. Really pisses me off, I've had some serious disputes with Northcliff Auto recently, such a bunch of ..****'s

This is bad. They really should ensure better service. Personally I have spoken to parts at rustenburg and the guy was friendly.

Personally I think this was a monthly moody woman, but my friend wants to sell his car... tired of the VVT and that did not help.

So at the moment I am trying to convince him not to buy a stupid Lancer!
