Johannesburg - A person was killed and another seriously injured when their BMW veered off the road and crashed, paramedics said on Saturday.

The vehicle veered off Ontdekkers road on Friday evening and overturned several times before hitting a roadside post and splitting in two, ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said in a statement.

"One man was ejected from the vehicle and the other was found seated in the wreck. Both are believed to be aged in their 20s," Visser said.

One of the men was found dead on the scene.

The second man had a deep cut and broken bones in his left arm. He also sustained back and neck injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police attended the scene and will conduct further investigations.
