Its actually just the 6 posts that have come loose and i was told that i cant just stick back the old ones cos its too thin. The only other option i have is to change the entire colour of the interior!

Well in a way the roof liner is actually not repairable, but is actually repairable....
As little sense as that makes, what I mean is that the roofliner as it is now cannot be repaired, because the cloth is actually to thin to stick back on, the roofliner is made of a rigid cardboard composite type material with a layer of foam on it and then a thin cloth layer, it is this cloth that comes loose from the foam that is the issue.
Now in another way it is repairable as you can remove the roofliner strip the original stuff off and then just replace with new foam and cloth, as far as matching the colour exactly, it doesn't really matter as the roof of a car doesn't need to be the exact same colour of the interior, for that matter you might as well change you roofliner to black as it goes with any colour interior.
Any decent car upholstery place should be able to do for you, or you could do it yourself as well, me and Legacy actually did his a while back, here is a thread about it:

The posts can be replaced with new ones, for a cool 6k and thats just the two front ones :nonono:. Its a common fault on the e46 M3. When i had mine it took only a year for them to come loose. MP changed them and for a further 3 years they never come loose. The roof lining is made from alcantara which is expensive, so rather go with a decent upholster to get the job done right.

there must be a fix for this if its a common problem... maybe google 'e46 M3 roof liner' or 'e46 M3 roof post trim' ect something should come up and someone should have solved this issue :)

If its the material on the A,B and C pillars peeling, then I am not too sure, have never heard of this happening before, it is normally the roof lining that sags on e46's and BMW's in general. Just be careful when removing the covers from the A pillars as they contain the airbags that cover the windscreen.

Wasnt that just the CSL's with Alcantara? I know mine doesnt have.

Time to change out for faux suede. Gonna be cheaper then going oem and look much nicer too.

 Unless it was an option? I can't really remember what if i had take it as an option or not back then.
