Home-made cleaning clay?

One of my friends who lives in Holland and is very proud of how he spends the least amount of money on anything (he once drove a Trabant as the dealer in Rotterdam gave him a voucher for 6 months petrol) says he has been using some home-made cleaning clay on his 2006 333i for several years.

He reckons it is what sounds like pres-stick to which he adds a touch of flour and then vinegar. After washing the car and drying it, he sprays some water and very dilute detergent on the car before rubbing this stuff on, then rinses it off.

I must say the finish on his car is really superb. He cleans it with "clay" about twice in summer and once a month in winter, as the roads are treated with salt and grit in winter and this makes a terrible mess. I last saw his car in September and it was like new.

I will let everyone try it first before I use it on my car

Ask him to post some pics of his 333i. Would love to see it.

how much clay do you even use need to clay a car 3 times a year... the risk vs cost factor is not worth it i think...

Well too be honest clay is clay, I've heard of pro detailers using those kiddy clay you play with when you are little that comes in like five different colours when they are claying a car and the results are just as good as normal "detailing" clay and its way cheaper apparently. :biglol:

Well, the clay stuff he showed me was bright pink. It felt to me like press-stick, slightly greasy maybe but I didn't pay that much attention. Hollands people will go to great lengths to save a Euro or two. Mind you, he paid €40000 for his 333i when new, the list price was €52000. He still has the Trabant and says it is increasing in value now. I have never seen such a horrible car.

I'll have to ask him for some pics. He said it was a 333i so who am I to contradict him. He has only had it 6 years since new. His wife called it a "gangster car".
