High mileage Oil Pump

So the "TI" is slowly creeping around the 250 000km range and I'm starting to get paranoid about the oil pump suddenly failing on me.

The car is still driving perfectly. No unusual noise or anything.

I'm dreading replacing this pump as ill need to drop the steering rack to get the sump off. I've heard that these pump are very reliable if oil changes are done regularly but with such high mileage i cant help but be paranoid that its gonna fail any day soon

Anyone here replaced their oil pump yet? If so, what mileage was it and did you experience any warning signs before the red oil light appeared?

leave it alone, change oil and filter often and you are good to go :thumbs:

Car still drives like a champ even with that kinda mileage. Very smooth on the highway.
I'll be driving it down to St Lucia in two weeks time. Looking forward to the drive
