Ok, so today I spoiled my volla for a nice spa treatment.
At 10:30AM this morning I met up with one of the VW GTi members at FRC to verify and inspect the goods that I want to purchase from his G5 GTi.
I was interested in the Audi S3 intercooler with piping, Full 76mm flowtech downpipe, wildcat muffler and stock backbox.
I inspected everything and it seemed in good nick...as they were only used for about 25k km. Pay'd up and loaded the stuff. (Yes it all fitted in the GTi)
Then I went to Supa Quick Kyalami to enquire about fitment of the whole exhaust system. (Powerflow in edenvale was too far)
As I know the guys there...they were very helpful.
I was there the whole time to make 100% sure about everything and workmanship.
About an hour or so...downpipe was out...and my "new" downpipe was installed.
(Right: OEM downpipe & Left: my flowtech downpipe)
As the G5 Gti and the G6 Gti use the exact same setup, the only difference is the backbox. So I didn't want to cut my OEM backbox off and reinstall it....So I insisted for straight pipes as I was after the best performance and sound. So we cut off the G5 GTi backbox and custom made our straight pipes with 63mm Stainless steel.
So we custom made the "Y" piece and did the bends perfectly. :fishwack:
I also opt for the oval tips. Looks quite stockish but a little bit bigger. :=):
So I'll be installing the S3 intercooler & APR induction kit sometime this week and make a turn at REVO or APR for some "magic" software hehe
The car really sounds insane at 5k-6.5k rpm when the DSG shifts. The blurp....or "fart" noise puts a big smile on my face.
I really thought there is going to be a "drone" noise because of the straight pipes (no back box) but surprisingly not. That mid wildcat muffler/box does the job for everyday town driving.
I tried taking a video of the "blurp" noise but the wind noise seems to interfere too much. :bangdesk:
But here it goes:

In the end...WoW I'm amazed. Solly did an awesome job with his CO2 welding and fitment. Andrew/Nolan is awesome and very helpful guys like always. Thanks to them I'm a happy customer with their service.
Now I know why us GTi okes think we can take on GTR's, ///M's, Ferrari's and Porsches! :roflol: :biglol:
