Hi guys

The new car bug has bitten and i am considering getting an E90 320D SP.
Currently drive an E46 318i SP 2 (awesome car that is serving me very well)

Now i saw one 2011 model with 69K on the clock going for R250K. Car still looks brand new, Is this too much for a car like this?

Are there better examples for less etc?

Thanks

Spec ? Is it M sport, what extras.

Personlly think the mileage is high for that price but let the guys with more experience on Bmws confirm.

It's a sportspack

Eish i didn't even look at extra's yet, what sort of extra's do they come with by the way?
Zenons?
It has a sun roof.
It has the normal 17' rim on it.
I know it has runflats which i'm not keen on.
it has a very light interior colour

what else to look out for?

I agree the mileage it a bit high for me too, roughly equates to 25k's a year.

I was also considering the 320d as a move from my car but was put off in a big way with all the reports of timing chain failures.

I've never seen a case reported on this forum, but since it's a result of weak parts (chain guide wears or the pump fails and causes it to sieze and snap) I decided not to risk it as I did want to mod at some point.

That issue aside, it's probably one of the best 2L diesel engines in its class.

I wouldn't stress about that mileage but price may be high.

Haven't heard about this issue, mine has been reliable with no issues and now on 253000km

Are you trading in your 318 DeanoBlado?

my car is not on the market, i'm still playing with the idea. but if you really want to know it's on 140k.

Sorry Dean. I was asking because I used to own one. Bought it at 166000km and sold it on 302000km.

You wont be sorry buying a diesel though:thumbs:

did a quick google and the timing chain issue was on the N47 motors between 2007 and 2009, what motor does the 320D have? 2011 model?

Anyone can confirm this?

From what I read, the facelift models are the most affected, although they say that from March 2011 the issue has been resolved in manufaturing.

Again, there are quite a few reports of it happening, all over the net, but in the grand scheme of things it seems like a drop in the ocean since I've never heard of a local case.

Guys lets not derail this poor guys thread.

The LCI 320d has a 135kw engine and the prelci '05 - mid '07 has a 120kw engine.

My ride is 2011 E90 320d. Got mine for 280k when it had 17 000 km on the clock.

250k for over 60 000 km is a bit steep, 230k is fair, below 220k is good.

There are cars like this with less than 50 000 km available for 230k.

It is a buyers market, good time to buy bad time to sell. So haggle, don't just pay asking price. People trying to sell cars are having a tough time at the moment.

Look around , I've seen some on the forum with lower mileage , going for less, you should have at the for sale section, also check out autotrade, cars.co.za, there's probably better deals out there. Like @vicus said it's a buyers market so dealers will probably be open for negotiation. Also I've seen some f30 320i's for 269k
