Did the brakes and thought I would clean the Throttle boddy again so as I have done this before it took my 5 min to get it out, While there I thought I would look Around and saw these. Took clips off and took them out. Cleaned the contacts etc. All in an attempt to sort out that bloody funky Idle.

Looking at redoing my Filter. That bloody big box just gets in the way. so planning.

Spy,

Go research Idle control valve for your motor, its something that you want to clean, as well. Should be just in front of your throttle body.

Saddly have tried Z but my motor does not have ICV.

"If it's a E90 your car doesn't have a ICV, it has valvetronic which varies the lift of the intake valves to control the idle as well as engine speed."

So slowly cleaning all bits.

I am unsure?

Don't want to hijack the thread, but what can/should one clean to better the feul consumption? I town I get between 34L/km and 21L/km. On the open road it gets to about 14L/km.

What to do?

first check that someone did not shoehorn an M5 motor under your hood;) Then take it to get the codes read. If no obvious issues at that piont I would clean MAF, try some injector cleaner in the fuel, have the cats checked/ removed and spark-plugs...

does it feel sluggish and you are overcompensating with your rightfoot? :mmm:

You can clean bits forever on a BMW and get nowhere.

Get the codes cleared, drive it a bit and then read the codes again, should point you in the right direction straight away.

Thanks for the advice guys!

I would not know if it is sluggish at all......

Have someone here in Paarl who charges R 200 to check the codes... Is that reasonable?

I'll have to wait for the month-end to have it done and will update.

Spy..

I'll bring my puter with me to the office, and you can pop past then any afternoon and we can put her on again :)

I usually leave the office at about 6:30 to 7, so anytime after 5 you can pop past.

Would be very interesting to see if anything new came up.
