Help! tow bar on new car - electric? Can I take it to BMW?

Hi guys,

Recently bought an F30. Came with a long ugly towbar. Sadly enough I do need a towbar for the weekends. I was seeing if it is a manual towar and there seems to be a light on it.

Not sure if it's a BMW or aftermarket towbar. Do I take it into BMW to get assessed? Would I be able to take it to any BMW?

Appreciate the advice!

Matt

Theres a spot on the side cut out underneath - makes sense for it to perhaps be electric?

I am not sure i understand the question? If it is electric, is there a button inside, either the cabin or the boot? Your vin should tell you if it OEM or not, electric or not.

If it's OEM, it will be the Electric Folding Towbar. Button will be in the boot on the right hand side above where the battery is held. Once you push it it will fold away behind the bumper.

I had a similar tow bar and to remove the hook it was necessary to switch on the hazards on the car. Only with the hazards on would the hook release if you pull on the small lever next to the light. My tow bar's light was green though. Just my 2 cents worth
