Merry Xmas Guys!!! I hope its a blast :blowheart:

I was driving to the shops this morning and suddenly the warning bell rings and my ABS light, My Traction Control light and the Runflat indicator Light came on. All are yellow. The user manual says its a fault in the Stability System but the car is driveable and it feels as normal.

Has this happened to anybody before? Can anybody in JHB North read the fault for me later this weekend or advise me on what to do?

Thanks guys, any help will be appreciated. :ty::ty:

Sounds like a bad ABS sensor. All the above systems rely on the correct operation of this sensor; there's one on each wheel.

It's the Steering Angle Sensor.

Get the error cleared first, if it crops up again then recalibrate the sensor, if it crops up again then a new sensor is required.

The E39 is notorious for cooking its ABS controller. Not surprising, since it is mounted directly above the exhaust manifold. It is not a case of if it is going to break, only when. Life becomes interesting when this happens.

ABS and traction control lights are lit, and these systems do not work. As an added bonus the speedo doesn't work and neither do anything that else that uses speed as an input. The doors do not lock by themselves when you drive off. The wiper speeds are not as before. You lose the highest speed for one. Anyway, the car remains drivable.

At least the fix easy. Give the nice man at Bosch R8000 of your hard-earned money, undo a couple of Torx screws and fit the new box of tricks. You can guess how I know all of this.

this has happened to me before however caused by idiots messing around when i went to do alignment and balancing. after i took it to another shop to sort out , it took about a day for all the lights to go away.

I went to see Peter this morning and really he is a legend, his work and his meticulousness is amazing and he is just a great guy :clapper: He gave me a lot of insight into the motor and tons of useful tips.

He tried to read the codes but unfortunately INPA could not read my ABS/Stability module and kept bringing up an error (cannot read module) and the lights persist. We will try again later on today tomorrow and hopefully we have some answers.

On a good note my car is 100% mechanically with the exception of the Vanos being a few degress out of spec which he said isn't a biggie. and I was super pleased to hear that:=):

Will let you guys know the outcome as soon as the codes can be read.

On that note, does anybody know where I could get the tyre pressure monitors from? I changed to 19's from 18's and forgot to put the monitors on the new rims.
