help needed on double sunroof

Hi

Need some advise for a friend, she drives a X3 previous generation. It has a double sunroof, and the back panel does not want to close it stays open. The front one works fine.

Can anyone please help?

yes, she can hear the motor, cause the front one closes, or does it maybe have two motors? Looks it hooks out and gets stuck.

She is asking if they can bring the car to you to look at.

There is only one motor for the roof mechanism. It sounds as if the the mechanism for the rear panel is stuck somewhere.

Why don't you try to lubricate the hinges first (with the suncreen all the way to the back) and to manipulate the rear panel by hand to see if you can free it up?

Removal of the sunroof cassette on these cars is a "female dog", so that should be a last resort.

What model is the car I also have the glass roof ,they recon there is two versions pre 2005 have The problem and later versions have a uprated version my one is a 2007

I read up on the net and they recon the plastic rails crack due to lubrication problems , but on my roof I see I have metal rails not plastic and my glass is the glass with the rubber edge , they recon there is a other glass aswell in older version
