Help needed for 130i windows

Hi BMW gurus,

Got my 2009 E81 130i hatch recently. I realised the passenger's window does not wind completely as compared to driver's side when door is closed. Has anyone experienced this before. The auto 0.25" drop works perfectly during door opening and closing.

Thanks in advance! :ty:

Have the same issue on my e81 driver's door

Tried to re-initialise it but that did nothing. Apparently there are adjustments you can access from the door jams with the help of really long tools, but i struggled to find these.

Ultimately I took the door panel off to try and adjust it, but got frustrated as the entire mechanism will lock out for a few minutes every time you adjust it even a smidge too far.

:hammerhead:

Looking forward to finding out if you have any success, and what the fix is.

hey hi, looks like we have gone down the same path buddy :smilebounce:

I was less adventurous and brought her to a mechanic. Similarly, the door panel came off and adjustments were made with results akin yours. The mechanic postulated to a tired door regulator. :eek:mgwaiting:

I am still contemplating to do the repair... will update here soon. If you found the remedy do share here too buddy. Cheers :ty:

I doubt its the door regulator as the window still comes down when you open the door, and works fine generally. In my mind its the limits that need to be adjusted, but for the life of me there's nothing obvious I can see, and very little wiring within the door.

I hope you come right, will do the same if I have any luck.

Maybe this will help

Disconnect the Battery, and re connect after 5 minutes.
Start the car, using the window control on the drivers side, open the passenger side window completely but keep your figure pressed on the switch for 5-7 seconds even after the window is opened, then close the window, again keep your figure pressed to the switch for 5-7 seconds after its closed.
this normally teaches it.
you can even try it first without disconnecting the battery, this method works on My Z4..

My thoughts exactly about the door regulator. I tried resetting the limit but to no avail. Someone wrote about loosening the 2 nuts and adjust the window up which my mech tried but like yours it went dead momentarily.

I will try go ask for a second opinion before changing out the regulator. :eek:mgwaiting:

Maybe a dirty micro-switch?

It seemed to me the micro-switch does function reasonably. Hmm.. the more I think of it, it could be the tired regulator which failed to roll it up completely and hence it register the top limit at just a tad lower.

I Wouldn't replace the regulator without doing diagnostics first, sometimes its as simple as clearing an error.

It happened to my 130i. Do as Momo1 mentions but you don't need to disconnect the battery.

it didn't work :dunnoanymore:

Does the car have to be "ON" or just have the key in the ignition ?

I got mine fixed after a second opinion. :smilebounce:

the guy removed the door panel, loosened two screws that held the window, made some adjustments and voila!

apparently the first dude I went to did not know his stuff and wrongly suggested that it could be the regulator.
