Hi guys need some help from the N52 gurus.

What are the common causes on a wobbly / dip in the revs on idle?

Can be felt sometimes when driving off as well - ill try and upload a video.

Aslo what are the normal revs at Idle on these motors?

I had a similar issue on my N52 after I had changed spark plugs. It was the coils in my case, they were not properly fitted.

I speak under correction here but idle is 800rpm

Could be many things. Had that issue on both the 323i and the 325i. It progressively got worse. I tried a few things in one go so not sure what actually fixed it but you can give these a shot:

1. Spark Plugs - check condition and gap (mine were over gapped and would surge/hunt upon cold starts).

2. VANOS solenoids - soak, both, in fuel and spray with brake cleaner and compressed air to dry it. After contradictory info found online - I just replaced the solenoids. Was in the R1000 region. Check my old showroom thread for pricing. I purchased it at Masterparts.

3. Loose coilpacks

4. Throw in some injector cleaner

Scan the car for any codes. If there are misfire codes, swap the coils/plugs and see if the codes travel along onto the respective cylinder.

Thanks Mr - I'm def going to go through that thread of yours.

I had the car serviced now with new plugs as a starting point.

But Ive also read about those 2 Vanos solenoids from BMW they 4.4 for the 2...
Will check other places as you mentioned but def also thinking of just replacing them and getting them done and out of the way:thumbs:

Check all as mentioned above, perhaps try cleaning them first before spending money on the new parts...

Having the exact same problem on my e92 Coupe. The revs actually go so low that car switches off. My mechanic suggested cleaning the solenoids first and this helped for about 2 weeks but now the problem is back.
