Hello guys,
So yesterday after driving a 39km trip on the freeway when i came to stop at a traffic light the car felt like it was surging forward with my foot on the brakes..started idling erratically and vibrating..drove off and when the road opened i tried to press it but the car was not going anywhere..I tried putting the car into manual mode and in first and second gear it revs to 3000RPM then skips to like 4500,come to a stop and the revs go down to like 200 then up to 1000 and back to 600RPM which is the normal idle speed.
This morning the car felt ok,and after driving 50km it started again, what i have noticed is that if i drive normally and not pass 3000rpm it seems to be ok but once i push it then the vibration and sort of miss fire starts, the engine even cut out at a traffic light today..I am not getting any errors on the dashboard and the last time the car was misfiring because of a bad ignition coil but this is different.
Some things to note:
The plugs were changed about 20000km ago.

I put in half a tank of petrol on Saturday mid night,I don't know if the attendant put in Unleaded as i told him before i went inside the shop to get something,The car was running fine prior to this.

Last time i ran diagnostics saw that my thermostat is broken, shows it now stays open.

Over the weekend i got caught up in the heavy rain on Sunday morning and drove in a flooded road, the car threw some warning lights(tire pressure warning, handbrake and dct) but they disappeared after a while.

I topped up a litre of oil on Saturday and forgot to tightly close the oil filler cap, only saw it yesterday some oil had come out but not a lot, gauge still shows full..

Now a quick online search suggests my fuel pump might be faulty but wanted to find out if anyone has had this problem on the N52 engine,am worried now as I'm going on a very long trip next month.
This car has never given me any problems for the past 2 years..

Highly recommend checking faults first. Where are you situated?
The dsc lights were probably due to the loss of traction in the water.

Changed swapped ignition coil with cylinder 1 and took the car for a drive, ran diagnostics again and now i get this,

Do you have the DIS software aswell? If you do, run it with that and see what it gives you, will be the same codes but there it will give you guidelines as to how to troubleshoot these problems.

Try that and let us know

Oh and when you changed the coil back to its original location / cylinder did error 29D1 and 29CC come back?

When i changed the coil to number 1,the error did not follow as its still number 4 misfiring and now number 5 and all it say miss fire on multiple cylinders 29CC.
Would all the coils or plugs fail at once?
I am going to try put the coil back on number 4 where it was and see what happens.

i got similar misfire codes when the pump on my e46 went. i too thought it was the coils, but as you've noticed... theres no pattern when you move them to another cylinder.

if you take it to a reliable workshop, they can test the fuel pressure out before you buy. have you changed the fuel filter? if you havent, i'd start there.. they are relatively cheap.

E90 petrol fuel filters are integrated into the fuel pump.
