Help, Dont know What BMW to Buy 3 Series

Hi Guys
Sorry I am new to the Forum.
I am wanting to buy a BMW (First One)
I am married and want a nice family car now.
I am looking at spending no more than 110K.
I want cool power and good fuel consumption and no extreme maintenance costs. Current Car does 400Kms to R350 fuel.
I dont mind a little higher than that though.
Must be Auto. Black leather, White, Silver or Black. Nice Rims. heehee
I have been scouting the 320D E46 and E90 2004 - 2006 If Lucky.
I am just scared of it breaking as obviously it will have at least
160 000Kms. Is this a bad buy? I really want the E90.
I know the fuel consumption is low and that attracts me.
I have been reading on the 320i E90 and been put off by the negative comments regarding the fuel consumption and Power.
I like my Aircon... I will only be doing around 1200Kms per month in it. Not too much traffic, but mainly Around Durban North Area with some freeway driving on weekends.
Should I look at the 323 or 325 or 330? E90 / E46 ?
I just love the E90 but dont want to regret this buy as when I was younger like 13 years ago, I got ripped off on a bad buy BMW and have been so scared.
Please guys, I am new to this so please dont be too harsh. heehee.
What are the fuel consumptions like and servicing and general repairs like on all these cars?
Im from Durban by the Way and you guys all ROCK.
What do I do, I have been pulling my hair out for weeks on this.
Whats the best way to know if the car is a dud when viewing?

Thanks in Advance. :praise:

I would recommend a diesel for you in the e90.
Those engines are rock solid with fairly good consumption with an option to tune at a later stage

If you really like the e90. Then go for the 320D. Good power, amazing fuel consumption. Don't me negative about the buy or you will just attract bad energy and thus, bad things.

Be positive and happy. You're going to love the car, no matter what BMW it is.

If you really worried about fuel consumption, its a Diesel you want.

E90 320d. Average fuel consumption 6.0l/100km

If possible maybe look up to R130k then maybe you could get a 2006 or 07 model

Have to agree with the guys,320d is the car for you! I have one as a daily and I love it to bits.Good power with excellent fuel consumption.I do about 2500 km monthly and this car saves me tons.

It currently has about 175k on the clock and has never given me any issues.Had the damper pulley changed a while ago as that seems to be a commom issue on these cars but other than that, they solid cars and not very expensive to maintain generally.

Theres alot of 320d's on the market selling cheap.Just wait for the right one to come along.Oh and when buying high mileage diesels, insist on a service history for peace of mind.

Thanks so much guys, I am really leaning toward the E90 320D, but I can only spend a max of 110K, and it must be Auto.
Does anyone know of where I could get one?

E46 330i/d or E90 320d/323i. In my opinion, the E46 f/l looks a lot better than the pre facelift E90's.

Fuel consumption on my 330i is around 7.5l/100km open road, 10-12l/100km town, 9l/100km combined day to day. I do roughly 3000km pm. Got it for 2 months now and I couldn't be happier.

Congrats bud,
Word of advise, 320i with the airconditioner on= very slow

I own a 320d and they are great cars,
Dont just at it because it looks all shinny, you gonna hate yourself later, the 320i are a bit slow on take off, with the aircon, its gonna be even slower

Just my 2c

I have the e90 320d and I can tell you, you get about 850 - 950 km on a tank and I have a fairly heavy foot.

And you get one at around your price with about 100k on the clock if you keep looking around.

E90 320d is definably the way to go, the e46 323/325 is also not a bad choice, but if the fuel consumption is what you worried about then 320d FTW.

I suggest trying to save up a bit more and get something with a lower millage, warranty ETC. yes lucks do come along but patience is key. dont rush the purchase if you have bad vibes, walk away or get a second opinion.

all the best bud
