Relief, at least now you know what's causing the problem! Nothing too major! Big up to Jandré!!

Did you find the problem Jarryd?

hehe yes when we had our spirited drive it was fine. Just checked your GoPro was on so i couldn't resist.

So big ups to Jandre!! Here are the results:

*Ignition failure cylinder 6
*Camshaft sensor

Yep! You caught that! Your car was definitely pulling strong at that point!!

Must edit this vid when I get a chance and have my notebook back which has Windows 7 Movie Maker etc...

Yep, it's the not knowing when something is amiss!! These things are so reliant on electronics, and often tracing a fault is not always that easy, or cheap to fix!

So the coil is not that bad, but the camshaft sensor...
Glad you found the problem.

When I started reading this thread, I was going to say cam sensor and then got to it after reading. I had the same issue on my E46. Glad you have it identified

Not at all Chris.

This was the third time that i used carsoft, and the first time on someone else's car, so i was pretty nervous and also quite relieved.

I sure hope the two errors that we picked up points to the culprit.

Camshaft sensor is not too expensive , coil is under R500 , so not too much to have her purring again .

i would change the sensor 1st i have the feeling that the *Ignition failure cylinder 6 is just a random code and may not be a problem... if the code comes up again you can look at it further...

I tend to agree with moranor here.

Rather swap the coil with one of the others first and see if the problem follows the coil.

So big ups to Zeemax for fixing the car! Problem was found with a faulty suppressor in cylinder 6 and spark plugs 5 and 6 were replaced.

Even after this there was still a issue but after returning the car within 3 hours they phoned back and told me i could come fetch it again. Apparently the replacement spark plug in 6 was a dud and they swopped the coils in 1 and 6 just to see if the coil is giving the issue.

Even after Zaid worked his magic he told me that if any issue should come about i should just pull my car in, no questions asked and they will sort it out quick quick.

glad to see you sorted out the issue and even more glad to see Zaid taking customer service seriously after the last incident.

So they did not have to replace the cam sensor?

I would've just replaced all the plugs.

A dud plug?:mmm: It's usually the coil. The plugs should last at least 100 000km. That's if they used the correct platinum tipped plugs.

They are very certain that theres no problem with the cam sensor as they did not pick anything up relating to it

Hi Chris any idea of a " a faulty suppressor " is and what did it cost to repair / replace if you don't mind.

How many are these of these things too, never heard of them ?

BTW- agrreed I'd replace all the plugs with the same type and the same time given the issues you are having / had !
