Hi guys,

Please could someone clear this up for me, its very confusing at this stage. There is a plug that connects into the heater valve, when i have it connected i cannot accelerate at all even with the pedal to the floor just remains idle, when i unplug it, acceleration is fine.

What is the relation between the two if anyone knows

Yoh dude, that is odd

Any associated engine management lights, such as taking you into limp mode ?

Only thing I can think is a parasidic drain robbing the ECU or some servo of power, but this should not be the case at all...

No warning lights at all, the only one i get is the injection light which comes on at idle sometimes but thats with that plug in or out, so i dont think there is a real relation there but that is why i say i am very confused right now. Its very strange.

the e46 has a aux heater that functions together with the water valve and pump, (not sure if the e36 has the same thing)
and it basically has two functions, first to preheat the coolant the get the engine up to temp quicker, and secondly to provide heat in the car when parked..

the valve might be shorted.. as to why this would cause the engine not to rev normally i have no idea..
