Headlight Upgrade

Greetings, fellow Fanatics.

Right, I am looking at investigating the plausibility of upgrading my headlights.

I have a pre-facelift (obviously) 1998/04 E39 540i manual - "The Beast". I have recently had the plastic headlight covers polished (big improvement), but would like to have a better improvement.

Questions: (See the attached pic)
Is this conversion "plug-n-play" ?
What all is required to purchase ?
Approximately what would this cost, all told ?
Where is the best place to go shopping for this ?

hi. i owned my previous e39 525i for 4.5yrs, and have had my current 2000 530d for 2.5yrs

good decent facelift lights are going to cost you around 2.5k - 5k. if you can find them.
DO NOT go for the aftermarket lights. original hella's only!!

afaik the connectors differ slightly but its a case of getting the facelift plugs and putting on the non facelift harness (same wire color code just different plugs.. I THINK...not sure on this)

that should be it. you will want the rear taillights as well "diamond lenses".
they fit, but require some drilling.
