Headlamp Cut off direction

Hi there

With regards to a BMW 320d 2003 model.

I have an issue with my right hand side head lamp and was hoping  guys could give me give me some advice.

Some backround - I recently bought the car and took it for a roadworthy certificate, it did not pass because the cut off area is apparently showing to the wrong direction so the light blinds oncoming traffic. It's something like this ___/ ___/ instead of \___ \___. Is it possible to get this adjusted to face the correct direction or do i have to buy a new head lamp? These are the normal halogen headlamps.

Also I've noticed the heated side mirrors do not switch off, is this normal?

Regards

Thanks Scorpz, I've had a look at other forums but no luck. Seems I might have to buy a new headlamp but the stealers are charging R5k each!!:nonono:

Any advice on the side mirrors?

I think there are dials which you turn on the headlight itself to adjust it. Take the car to a mechanic who knows his way around an e46.

If you take it to Brilliant Mechanical Workshop in Kenilworth, they should be able to either adjust it for you, or tell you if you need a new headlight. Who knows they might not even charge you if its simple.

Check your globes. It might be upside down. Im not sure if the little cup inside the H7 globe must be at the top or bottom but it makes a huge difference. I have found that people have inserted the globes incorectly

Hey guys, so it turns out that the original light got damaged on my car and the previous owner replaced it with a pirate part for left hand drive vehicles.
So now I'm looking for a good second hand head light, as previously stated new ones go for R5k and my budget isn't going to allow for that right now. Anyone know where I can get one in Cape Town?

Thanks

This was my first guess, but it implied a pirate light or accident, so I hoped it wasnt so and didnt respond.

Yeah I checked out all the other parts afterwards out of paranoia, glad to report that it was only the headlamp in question:thumbs:

Thanks for the help guys..

I know it's not OEM, but you could always try eBay :dunno: Much cheaper than the stealers...
