Has anyone decatted their E90 320i?

Hi,

Has anyone decatted their E90 320i? If so, where and how was the service and price? My catalytic converter is apparently damaged (according to BMW) and they want an arm and both legs to replace so I have been considering a decat.

The thing is, I don't want the car to sound much louder or crap after. Its not a performance car and I don't want it trying to be one. I have sort it out because there is a rattle from the exhaust on idle and I have also noticed some smoke on pull away (hoping that this is from the cat).

Thanks in advance for the info.

P.S. What is the difference between a decat and a resonator? (sorry if its a stupid question).

decat = take catalytic converter off
catalytic converter = specific device with microns of platinum on surface to convert toxic exhaust emissions from an internal combustion engine into non-toxic substances
resonator = box to improve sound by sending "swinging" exaust gases through an especially designed muffler to reduce these stupid sounds and give the car a nice crunchy tone

Thanks Spy... yes, I believe it is the N46 B20 engine.

Which super quick did you get the Cowley system from? How's your car going, how was the service, any problems?

Supa Quick 2 km from my House. No problems what so ever
and I have codes read before and after.

So No Hassels.

FYI The supa Quick is Intendant from the chains. It is my Mechanic that does my car my moms car and my wife's car.

Tyres for Gopher 2 weeks ago was R1700 fitted for 2.

My wife's car is there as I type for her tyres.

So I trust this guy with my Mom and Wives car and that SAYS a Lot.

is the car still under motor plan?
if it is and you do a decat or resonator swap you will loose motorplan...

Good Morning fellow BMW owners,
I know this is a old post but I was wondering if you managed to remove the cats? I have a 2007 E90 320i. I suspect that the cats are blocked and would like to remove them. I phoned around to get some info but when they start with aaaaaa mmmmmm then I rather not take the risk.

Im in the Pretoria area. Can anyone recommend a place to go and what cost im looking at?

Your help will be greatly appreciated!!

Hi,

I ended up doing my decat at Steve's Auto Clinic in Kyalami/ Midrand. It was the biggest mistake ever, the car never ran the same again and also sounded terrible. To top it off, the service was not great either. I eventually sold the car cos it was so crap to drive.

Not sure where else you can go for the decat.

Contact power flow in Randburg.

Software change is required to overide the cat sensors in order for the car to run properly

Thank you all for the reply.

Many people recomended Powerflow and I contacted them. Quote was not bad. So I will take the car to them.

But now new problem! I need to replace the clutch. And maybe the flywheel as well. The car has a shatter when you pull away and when stuck in traffic it gets worse. MBW records show clutch was done on 25k but not flywheel. Now on 124k and acting up again. Mayny say its not the flywheel but Im no expert on this... so any feedback and recomended placed except dealers would be great.

Have an awsome day all!!
