technical Handbrake indicator dash light not illuminating when handbrake is pulled up

As the title suggests, I've recently noticed that the handbrake light on the dash no longer illuminates when I pull up the handbrake (F30).
The light still comes on briefly when I start the car which tells me its not the bulb in the dash so I have to assume the problem is elsewhere.

Where could I possibly start looking to try to see where the problem could be?

Thanks.

Check brake fluid levels as a start.

Is yours a physical handbrake?
The switch to activate the light is right at the lever connection.

It would be safe to assume nothing has changed with the wiring or connection unless some liquid got spilled so most likely a fuse.

I suppose it is possible for corrosion to set in depending on the environment which might need for the centre consol to be stripped / removed to gain access.
