So had a bad puncture on my rear wheel. 2 holes one in centre and on small one in side wall which caused a nice bubble. I was due for new shoes anyway. So wasn't a biggie. BMW on call brought me a spare for the weekend. What was interesting about all this is the sir of the wheel which they put on. It actually works and dis the archs quite well. So it got me thinking. It opens up a. Whole new world in terms of rims and TYRES sizes. But will it affect anything else ? What's your thoughts ?

Well, this is why in my opinion, space-saver > mobility kit!

All I see is a "stretched" tyre on a wide wheel - not anything new, and is quite popular in many cases. There are different views about this, but it is actually a risky the more the tyre is being stretched - puts way too much strain on the side walls of the tyres! But, a moderate stretch can help with wheel arch clearance issues when a larger than standard wheel is used or when there is an offset issue.

I would put my car thri the embarrassment [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]. It's a loaner from BMW on call.
Original size is 245/35/18 on rears. Just surprised this fits

Ah, just paying attention to the size, that looks like the tyre diameter of the new F30 3 Series - the E90 for example is 225/40R18 for the narrow wheel/tyre size, F30 uses 225/45R18 up front. Increasing the overall diameter increases the overall rolling distance, therefore increasing your travelling speed. You will get speed fines easier now too!

Rather stick to the standard diameter.
